Designers must be consistent with object and assembly naming conventions. Data must be applied and associated to objects and assemblies consistently from project to project from all design firms. The designers provide the initial information to a collection of integrated databases of a central BIM Asset Information Database (BIM-AID) and all building related operations access and build on this database for the lifecycle of the facility.
Contractors are provided the BIM model for estimation, conflict checking, scheduling, fabrication and updates throughout the construction process. Data about installed products must be updated so the final model is a true reflection of the built project. The contractors add information to the BIM-AID as the BIM model develops.
Managers that receive a good BIM model and related product data will be able to use this information for the management, operations and maintenance of the buildings.
Owners will be able to generate reports on their buildings, campuses and portfolios that are easy to create and accurately portray the data and history of all major building components over their lifecycle and the useful life of the building.
